As Income Assistant, you will play a key role in recovering income from non-residential sources, including garages, sheds, parking spaces, customer recharges and former tenant debts. You will also provide administrative support to other members of the income team.



Role Overview:

Your main tasks will include issuing recharges, chasing garage arrears, recharge debts and former tenant debts, escalating relevant debts to outside agencies and serving notice to quit where garage debts are not paid. Additionally, you'll talk to customers when they have questions or problems. Also you will provide admin support and assistance to Income Officers focusing on proactive management of social housing tenancies and rent accounts.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with external stakeholders including the DWP, Universal Credit and housing benefit department, to reduce debt
  • Working with Income Officers to support customers with repaying debt
  • Verifying tenants Universal Credit claims and making contact for first payment.
  • Monitoring incoming emails to providing first contact resolution
  • Providing a customer focussed rent and debt collection service for Garage arrears.
  • Making initial contact with former tenants following termination of tenancy to agree/negotiate a repayment plan.
  • Referring former tenants to debt collection agency
  • Dealing with current and former tenancy credits
  • Setting up, terminating and amending Direct debits
  • Providing administrative support within the team
