Pride Month Celebrations and Networking Breakfast

Last month, for the first time, WISH London had a vibrant and meaningful Pride Month celebration in collaboration with HouseProud-LGBT. Our pride summer party was kindly hosted by Pollard Thomas Edwards.

A special thank you to Clarion Housing Group for co-sponsoring the event. Clare Miller, CEO, spoke passionately about the importance of diversity in social housing. The event also featured Hayley Speed, Director of Service at AKT, who shed light on the vital work AKT does to help LGBTQ+ young people experiencing homelessness. We are proud to have supported AKT through our fundraising efforts.

Empowering Women in Social Housing

Last week, we held a networking breakfast aimed at connecting women in the industry and discussing workplace challenges. The event was a resounding success, featuring insightful keynote talks from Priya Aggarwal-Shah and Aceil Haddad.

Priya, the founder of PREACH Inclusion® (formerly BAME in Property), emphasized the importance of Black, Asian, and minority ethnic representation in social housing. Her talk highlighted how such representation brings understanding and real-world experiences of cultural differences to the industry.

Aceil, founder of MATT PR, shared her personal story, addressing the broader challenges women face in male-dominated environments. Her inspiring journey resonated with many attendees, sparking meaningful conversations and connections.

We extend our gratitude to our chair, Hony Premlal, and all the board members for organising such a fantastic event. The focus on collaboration over competition among women in social housing was a key takeaway, and we look forward to continuing this dialogue.
